Ellis Island Las Vegas Review

Ellis Island is located on Koval Lane just east of the Las Vegas Strip. It is one block behind Paris Las Vegas. The hotel used by Ellis Island is the Super 8. It is not adjacent to the casino, however, the properties share a parking lot.
Ellis Island opened as Village Pub in 1967. The property became known as Ellis Island in 1986. The property almost saw substantial changes during the boom in the middle of the 2000’s. A portion of the it was to become the Aqua Blue Hotel. The idea was shelved as the boom waned. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the economy eventually crashed.
Ellis Island is a sister property to Tuscany, a resort about one block east of it on Flamingo Rd.

Casino at Ellis Island

The casino floor at Ellis Island is one of the smallest in Las Vegas. It spreads about 100 video poker and slot machines. It offers impressive video poker considering its proximity to the Strip. The popular “Not So Ugly Deuces” is prevalent. Full Pay Jacks or Better and Bonus Poker are also available. All are spread in $.25, $.50 and $1 denominations. Unfortunately, all of these games are excluded from point multiplier days offered by the players club.
There are five six-deck blackjack tables at Ellis Island. The limits are $5-$300. Players may double on any two cards and after splitting. There is no surrender or resplit ace.
There are two other table games. One is $5-$300 double zero roulette. It is open 24 hours a day. Craps opens at 5pm daily with 3-4-5 times odds. The limits are $3-$500 between 5pm and 7pm. The minimum bet goes up to $5 after 7pm.

Hotel at Ellis Island

Ellis Island uses the Super 8 hotel. It is a short walk across the parking lot from the casino. There are only two room types at Super 8. The king room starts at $33 on weeknights and $59 on weekends. The two queen room starts at $42 on weeknights and $67 on weekends. There is no resort fee.

Dining at Ellis Island

There are four dining options at Ellis Island. All are very reasonably priced. Guests will find quick bites at Metro Pizza and Boardhouse, which is a sandwich shop. The two sit down options are the Microbrew Café and the BBQ restaurant.
The Microbrew Café is open 24 hours a day. Its secret menu contains a $9.99 steak dinner. Other menu items include 24 hour breakfast, sandwiches and dinner entrees.
The BBQ restaurant has just four items on its menu. Diners may choose between a half rack of ribs, full rack of ribs, half rack and half chicken, or a half chicken. All options come with coleslaw, baked beans and toast. No substitutions are allowed. Microbrew selections are also available in the barbecue restaurant.

Bars at Ellis Island

There are two bars at Ellis Island. One is in the center of the main casino floor. It offers 99% video poker games. The other is a karaoke bar that offers many house brewed beers.
