Westin Casuarina Review

The Westin Las Vegas is also known as Westin Casuarina. It is a small casino with just 300 slot machines and eight table games. The resort concentrates more on its amenities than gambling.
The Westin Las Vegas is located less than a block east of the Las Vegas Strip on Flamingo Road. It is within easy walking distance of Bally’s, Cromwell and Flamingo.
The Westin started out as the Maxim Hotel. It opened on July 1, 1977. It declined due to a lack of investment and explosion of the Strip. The casino closed in 1999. The hotel ceased operations a year later. The property reopened as a remodeled resort on November 6, 2003 under the Westin Casuarina brand name.

Casino at Westin Casuarina

The casino floor at the Westin is among the smallest in Las Vegas, even for off-strip properties. The 300 slots and eight table games offer players little variety. There are no video poker games with payouts above 99%. This makes its games unplayable away from the table pit.
The Max Casino players club offers slot players .5% in free play and .25% for video poker games. This is based on the handle. Players that join the Max Casino players club receive a $10 match play. Suited blackjacks also give players a $10 match play.
There are five six-deck blackjack tables with $5-$300 limits. Players may double on any two cards and after splitting. Baccarat is spread with $10-$500 bets accepted. There is $5-$500 3-4-5 times odds craps and $5-$100 double zero roulette.
There is a $1 minimum bet video Big Wheel machine. The only other gaming option of note is a small William Hill race and sports book.

Hotel at Westin Casuarina

There are 825 guest rooms at Westin Casuarina. Most rooms are one king or two doubles. The rates start at $99 per night all days of the week. There is also a $20 resort fee. An executive one bedroom suite and various high roller suites are also available in the hotel. These are reserved for VIP players.

Dining at Westin Casuarina

There are only two restaurants on the property. Suede Restaurant offers healthy breakfast and lunch items. It also offers a wide variety of dinner options that include steak, seafood, chicken and salads. There is also a 24-hour grill at the casino lounge that serves pizzas, burgers and apps.

Bars at Westin Casuarina

There are two bars at the Westin Las Vegas. One is located a few steps away from the front desk. Video poker and slots are available there. The other is by the pool. Happy hour is from 6-7pm. Complimentary beer, wine and appetizers are served for hotel guests.

Westin Casuarina Location

The Westin is located less than a block east of the Las Vegas Strip on Flamingo Road. Its crossroad is Koval Lane. It is almost directly behind the Cromwell and Flamingo Casino-Hotel properties.
