Bighorn is about the closest thing to a sawdust joint that the Las Vegas area has these days. It is a smoky casino that caters to low rollers and is located on East Lake Mead Blvd in North Las Vegas. Players who are used to resorts may find the casino to be rougher than they are used to. However, we have never experienced or witnessed a security issue on the property.
Bighorn is best known for its $5 blackjack game which has very liberal rules and this is about the only reason to visit the casino. The video poker is closer to tavern payouts than it is locals casinos. The restaurant is a low-end diner. There is a small William Hill sportsbook on the property.

Gaming at Bighorn Casino

The highlight of the Bighorn Casino property is its six-deck blackjack game. There are three tables just inside the front door and they offer limits of $5 to $100. The rules at this game are favorable; players can double down on two or three cards, double after splitting is permitted and surrender is offered. Aces may be split up to three times, and there is no limit to splits for other cards. The dealer must also hit on soft 17.
This is probably the best $5 blackjack game in the Las Vegas area. The Longhorn Casino on Boulder Highway has the same rules as the same company owns both casinos.
The video poker games at Bighorn Casino return less than 99% in all cases. The best game is 15/9 Deuces Wild, but other games include 7/5 Bonus Poker, 9/5 Double Double Bonus and 9/6/5 Double Bonus. These games are spread in nickel, dime and quarter denominations with some going up to $1 limits. Some of the video poker machines also offer keno.
The rest of the machines at Bighorn Casino are slots, most of which are video reel penny machines.

Bigshot Players Club

Bighorn Casino uses the Bigshot players card which is also used at its sister property, Longhorn Casino. Players earn 1 point for every $1 wagered at slots and video poker. Players may convert 800 points into $1 in cash. There is an option to get a reduced rate of 400 points per dollar in the restaurant.
Blackjack players may earn free bets. Slots and video poker players may receive meal vouchers and free play coupons by mail.

Dining & Restaurants

The Chuckwagon Restaurant is the only dining option on the property and it’s open 24/7. The Chuckwagon Restaurant specializes in breakfast, which is offered all day. Guests may choose between traditional American breakfast items. There are some breakfast items with a southwest influence as well.
Lunch and dinner patrons can choose from nearly 100 menu items. There are typical diner options, such as burgers, salads and sandwiches. Guests may also choose to order off the daily special or dinner entrée menus. These options include Mexican food, steak, chicken, pork and seafood items.
